Baby Riley is born at Swedish Hospital!

Back in May I photographed Cindi and Tony’s fabulous wedding at The Hall at Fauntleroy. When I received the text that Riley had been born, I quickly ran over to Swedish Hospital to take a few photos of them. He was all of 6 hours old when I met him. He is a GORGEOUS little baby and what an amazing head of hair. Congratulations Cindi and Tony!

Aero’s First Birthday Portrait!

I have known Brandy, Aero’s mom for many years. We first met at a wedding where she was doing the makeup on a bride. We also found out we lived in the same neighborhood. Seattle can be a small town sometimes. Years later Brandy had Aero and he just celebrated his first birthday. Unfortunately I missed the party but here are some portraits we took. He is such a cutie and so is Brandy too!

Brenda and Riccardo’s Hotel 1000 Wedding

Back in November I photographed this sweet little wedding. It was a super cold clear day. Brenda was a trooper walking around Pike Place Market in her summery dress. We had a lot of fun shooting portraits. Merging a family is never easy and their kids were adorable. And.. never in my life have I photographed a wedding through a fire before. The couple only had family and close friend attend the ceremony. The reception was later in the evening at their home.

New York City and New Jersey Children and Family Portraits

Every fall I head to the east coast to photograph a bunch of my clients in time for their holiday cards. This year, I happened to be there during the rare snowstorm in October. My clients were troopers. I managed to photograph them all despite the cold and rainy weather. Princeton New Jersey families even got to have snow in their portraits.

Erika and Sean’s Skansonia Wedding!

Erika and Sean met on eHarmony in April of 2008. They talked and talked on their first date and closed the restaurant down! The next day, he called her and asked her out again. It continued. They were a match. On May 1, 2010 Sean proposed to Erika. They first had dinner at Tom Douglas’ “Serious Pie” and then took a walk to the waterfront. Starting at Pike Place Market they ventured down all the stairs to the Seattle Aquarium and Pier 56. That is where Sean got on one knee and proposed. Erika was shocked, crying and her hands were trembling. She said yes! When the wedding planning began, they had to include Erika’s “four legged child” Palmer. He was the ring barer.

When we met, two of Erika’s favorite locations to do photos were at Pike Place Market as well as Kerry Park. So.. off we went before the wedding in a party bus. The bridal party and family had a great time driving around Seattle.

Chelsea and Grant Marry at Hidden Meadows!

Ok, so I am a bit behind with my blog posts. Back in August I photographed Chelsea and Grant’s beautiful wedding out at Hidden Meadows in Snohomish. It was the first time I had photographed an event there and the place is wonderful. Sprawling lawns and an open and airy event space make for a spacious simple setting. Later in the evening we had the pleasure of seeing some of the hot air balloons flying nearby. I had photographed Chelsea’s brother’s wedding a few years back so I had worked with this family before. I do love when people can trust my work and enjoy working with me. It makes me feel terrific.

How they Met:

Chelsea and Grant both attended Macalester College in Minnesota. They met at the beginning of her freshman year (his junior year) on a retreat and started dating very shortly thereafter. After Grant graduated, he went off to Chicago for law school and they had been mostly long distance. After the wedding Grant will be joining Chelsea in Columbus, Ohio where she is working on her Ph.D.

How Grant proposed:

Chelsea and Grant got engaged over Christmas break during her senior year of college (coincidentally, on her parent’s anniversary). Grant was back in Minnesota on his break and they were just hanging out before heading out to a friend’s dinner party. They were cuddling, and then all of a sudden Grant got really shy and whispered in her ear, “Will you marry me?” And Chelsea said yes, of course!

Abby and Jeff get married at Parsons Gardens and party at Ray’s Boathouse

Jeff & Abby met May 7th, 2005 at the George & Dragon Tavern. After waiting the traditional 3 days, Jeff called Abby and asked her out on a date. They went to Dad Watson’s in Fremont and ate burgers and drank their Ruby Beer (Abby’s favorite). From the start Abby knew this guy was a keeper, their conversations were effortless and he found her quirkiness cute. Jeff was always a great boyfriend. He used to be a bike messenger and would stop by my house to walk my pug dog, Jack Daniels, when I was at nursing school. On October 12th, 2010 Jeff proposed to Abby at their dinner table. It was a very sweet & heartfelt proposal. At first they wanted to do a small wedding ceremony with just family and a judge. However, Abby realized that walking down the aisle with her father was really important to her. They started looking into locations that November. Jeff’s suggested Parson’s Garden right near their house. It was perfect. They could picture their families sitting in the park and where they would stand to say their vows. After looking at 5 different reception sites, they chose Ray’s Boathouse. They had a few themes at their wedding. Abby’s favorite flower is the daisy, the color green and with Jeff being an avid cyclist they had to have bikes. They are also very attached to their dogs and it was important to us to have them in the wedding. Jeff thought it would be fun to ride up the aisle on his basket bike with the dogs and it was a huge hit! For their gifts and party favors they had little green match books made with daisies and a bike on them. They also had reusable tote bags made with daises and bikes. Terrific weather helped them pull off one gorgeous wedding! Congrats Abby and Jeff! I had a great time working with you!

Laura and Rachel’s “Farm Kitchen” Wedding

How Laura and Rachel Met: “Laura and Rachel met soon after signing up for match.com, Rachel received a ‘wink’ from a suspicious looking person. Rachel emailed, and soon Rachel and Laura were writing back-and-forth to one another. Five days later…The pair met at Teaism, a cute tea shop in the Dupont Circle neighborhood of DC, known for its loose-leaf tea, local art, tasty ethnic flavors, and of course, their chai shakes. Unbeknownst to Laura and Rachel at the time, the chai shake is well known for its strong aphrodisiac properties; many a couple has united through its sweet, exotic creaminess. Laura and Rachel were no exception…”

The Proposals: They had talked about getting married and had even designed their rings, but Laura didn’t know the rings had been made. They were visiting DC, seeing my family and our friends, and one day Laura and Rachel went for an afternoon date in Dupont Circle. They ended up at Teaism. After ordering their drinks at the counter, Laura excused herself to the restroom while Rachel went upstairs to get seats. People were sitting at the table where they had had their first date, and Rachel kindly asked them if they could relocate because she was about to ask her girlfriend to marry her! When they returned with our drinks, Rachel gave Laura a love letter. As she finished reading and looked up into Rachel’s eyes, Rachel pulled out a ring and asked Laura to marry her. Laura said yes, and as they left, their fellow patrons yelled Mazel Tov!

That night, Rachel’s parents pulled out a bottle of champagne, the same kind they drank at their wedding, and toasted the newly engaged couple. Then Rachel’s mom pulled Laura aside and gave her Rachel’s ring.

Two days later, they each went to have lunch with their old co-workers, in different parts of the city. Unbeknownst to Rachel, Laura was not having lunch with her co-workers, but was actually getting cake from their favorite bakery on U Street. When Rachel finished lunch, she called Laura who told her to meet her at the Georgetown Waterfront park. Laura was wearing a cute red sundress and carrying cake, so Rachel tackled her to the ground. Upon regaining a seated position and her composure, Laura pulled out a ring and asked Rachel to marry her, and Rachel said yes!

Why they chose Farm Kitchen:
“We’re not very frou frou wedding decoration people, so we decided we wanted a place with enough natural beauty that we wouldn’t have to dress it up. We looked at each other and just thought, yes, this is where we will get married.”

Mary and Erin’s Woodmark Hotel Wedding

Mary and Erin got married at The Woodmark Hotel on July 2, 2011. The weather was gorgeous! Sunny and warm and spectacular! I was honored to capture the day! Here is their story:
Mary and Erin met 5 years earlier when they were involved in youth ministry in the Episcopal Church. How Mary proposed: Erin was in the Middle East for ten days over Spring Break 2010 as a trip leader for students on an international experience. While Erin was gone, Mary missed her terribly and thought to herself, “What are we waiting for?? Why are we putting conditions on this? We know we belong together. I’m going to propose!”Erin was barely in the house after a 15 hour flight home from Qatar, when Mary got on one knee and asked Erin to marry her. Erin was surprised and overwhelmed, uttering, “What are you doing??” Once we got Mary off the floor, Erin said, “Of course I’ll marry you!” That was March 21, 2010, one of the more romantic times in their life together…The rest is history. Mary and Erin currently live in Maryland.
